In that document, FDA proposed to amend its regulations to provide for the use of fluid ultrafiltered (UF) milk in the manufacture of standardized cheeses and related cheese products. FDA received a number of comments that were opposed to the proposed requirement to declare fluid UF milk, when used, as "ultrafiltered milk" or "ultrafiltered nonfat milk," as appropriate, in the ingredient statement of the finished cheese.
