| 96-33145 | Noise Limitations for Aircraft Operations in the Vicinity of Grand Canyon National Park | Proposed Rule | This notice of proposed rulemaking proposes to establish noise limitations for certain aircraft operated in the vicinity of Grand Canyon National Park. This notice is one part of an overall strategy to reduce further the impact of aircraft noise on the park environment and to assist the National Park Service in achieving its statutory mandate imposed by Public Law 100-91 to provide for the substantial restoration of natural quiet and experience in Grand Canyon National Park. To this end, this proposed rule is issued concurrently with a final rule affecting the Special Flight Rules in the Vicinity of Grand Canyon National Park, a Notice of Availability of Proposed Commercial Air Tour Routes for the Grand Canyon National Park and Request for Comments, and the Draft Environmental Assessment for this Notice. As mentioned above, this NPRM is issued concurrently with a final rule published elsewhere in this part of this issue of the Federal Register.
