2025-09857 Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Significant Portion of Its Range Analysis for the Northern Distinct Population Segment of the Southern Subspecies of Scarlet Macaw Rule We, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), determine that the northern distinct population segment (DPS) of the southern subspecies of scarlet macaw (Ara macao macao) is appropriately listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (Act), as amended. Scarlet macaws are brilliantly colored parrots native to Mexico and Central and South America.
