The purpose of the Council is to advise the Secretary of Commerce (Secretary) on key issues pertaining to the growth and competitiveness of the nation's Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs). The Council's charter provides for not more than 25 members. In October 2010, 21 individuals accepted appointments from the Secretary to serve on the Council.
