01-28693 Debt Collection Rule The National Indian Gaming Commission (Commission) is issuing interim regulations that set forth procedures for collecting debts. The Federal Claims Collection Act of 1966, as amended by the Debt Collection Act of 1982 and the Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996, requires agencies to issue regulations on their debt collection procedures. The interim rule outlines procedures mandated by statutes and regulations promulgated jointly by the departments of the Treasury and Justice and by the Office of Personnel Management. The rule includes procedures for collection of debts through administrative, tax, and salary offset and administrative wage garnishment.
