| 00-770 | Service Annual Survey | Notice | The U.S. Census Bureau is conducting the 1999 Service Annual Survey. The results of the service annual program were previously published on a Standard Industrial Classification basis. Beginning with the survey year 1999, we will publish data using the new North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). With the NAICS implementation, the Service Annual Survey incorporates the previous Transportation Annual Survey, the Annual Survey of Communication Services, and the publishing industry from the Annual Survey of Manufactures into one service program. With NAICS, 149 new and emerging industries have been added to the Service Annual Survey, including air couriers, publishing, sound recording, waste management and remediation services, and selected financial industries.
