00-28226 Privacy Act of 1974; Report of New Routine Use Notice In accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974 (5 U.S.C. 552a(e)(4) and (11)), we are notifying the public of our intent to establish a new routine use of information maintained in the Privacy Act system of records entitled Master Files of Social Security Number (SSN) Holders and SSN Applications. The proposed new routine use allows SSA to verify SSNs for State bureau of vital statistics (BVS) in the States' Electronic Death Registration (EDR) process.
