NOAA-NMFS-2014-0155 NOAA Framework Adjustment 8 to the Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Fishery Management Plan Rulemaking 2024-06-12T01:04:40Z 0b0000648196e085 0648-BE60 This rulemaking would propose to move the start date of the 2015 recreational black sea bass fishery to May 15. This rulemaking is necessary because the timing of the typical recreational management measures process would not allow the change to take place until 2016. The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council typically recommends the recreational management measures (open season, minimum fish size, and bag limit) at the December meeting of each year. Because of the timing of the development of the analyses and rulemaking, we publish a final rule in late May or early June of the fishing year in which the measures are intended to apply. In recent years, the black sea bass recreational harvest limit has been exceeded, resulting in more restrictive measures (i.e., shorter season, lower bag limit, larger minimum size) being implemented for the following fishing year.               {"displayProperties": [], "keywords": null, "modifyDate": "2024-06-12T01:04:40Z", "dkAbstract": "This rulemaking would propose to move the start date of the 2015 recreational black sea bass fishery to May 15.
