NOAA-NMFS-2011-0147 NOAA Fisheries of the Exclusive Economic Zone Off Alaska; Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area Amendment 97 Rulemaking 2021-05-02T01:12:59Z 0b00006480e68c81 0648-BB18 NMFS issues a proposed rule that would implement Amendment 97 to the Fishery Management Plan for Groundfish Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area (FMP). If approved, Amendment 97 would establish a process for the owners of original qualifying Amendment 80 vessels to replace each trawl catcher/processor (C/P) vessel for any purpose. This proposed action includes measures to limit the length of replacement vessels, the management of Gulf of Alaska flatfish sideboards and the implications of vessel replacement on Quota Share assignments under the Amendment 80 program. The action is intended to prevent replaced vessels from increasing the fishing effort in non-Amendment 80 fisheries while promoting safety at sea through the gradual replacement of the aging fleet of vessels. This action is intended to promote the goals and objectives of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, the FMP, and other applicable laws.               {"displayProperties": [], "keywords": null, "modifyDate": "2021-05-02T01:12:59Z", "dkAbstract": "NMFS issues a proposed rule that would implement Amendment 97 to the Fishery Management Plan for Groundfish Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area (FMP).
