APHIS-2023-0052 APHIS Giant African Snail Cooperative Eradication Program in Lee and Pasco Counties, Florida Nonrulemaking 2023-08-17T07:37:29Z 0b00006485b3eaaf   The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Decision for the Final Environmental Assessment (EA) entitled “Giant African Snail Cooperative Eradication Program in Lee and Pasco Counties, Florida.” The giant African snail (Lissachatina fulica) is a potentially devastating invasive species to agriculture, ornamental plants, and other resources. Based on the analysis contained in the EA and two comments received that were outside the scope of the EA during the public comment period, July 5-August 7, 2023, APHIS has decided to implement the Preferred Alternative, snail eradication, as described in the EA and concluded that it will not have a significant impact on the quality of the human environment.
