Mr. President, I rise today to honor and thank my\nconstituent and longtime staffer McKenna LeVitt for her many years of\nservice to the U.S. Senate and to the people of Nevada.\n\n[[Page S5245]]\n\n  McKenna has been a key member of my team since my first year in the\nSenate, joining my office as part of our first intern class and then\nreturning to work for me in a full-time role after she graduated from\nthe University of Nevada, Reno. Over time, she proved herself to be an\nincredibly dedicated and talented staffer, rising quickly from staff\nassistant to legislative correspondent to legislative correspondence\nmanager to legislative aide to legislative assistant and finally\nbecoming our lead policy adviser for all energy, environment, public\nlands, water, agriculture, and Tribal issues.\n  In this role, McKenna has led my office's work on numerous public\nlands bills, multi-year legislative efforts that are critical to the\nlandscape, economic development, safety, preservation, and\naccessibility of the land in our State. She has shepherded the Truckee\nMeadows Public Lands Management Act through Congress, one of the most\nsignificant pieces of legislation directly impacting northern Nevada in\nrecent history. In introducing, negotiating, and working to amend this\nbill, McKenna has taken many hundreds of meetings and put in thousands\nof hours of work, collaborating with county and city officials, Tribes,\nthe State of Nevada, conservationists, sportsmen, recreationalists,\nranchers, landholders, housing developers, utilities, and others. She\nhas taken public feedback, working parcel-by-parcel on changes and\nworking across the aisle and with members of both the House and Senate\nand with committee staff to move this bill forward. Its future success\nin this Chamber will be due in very large part to her, and I am\nconfident that we will get the Truckee Meadows Public Lands Management\nAct across the finish line thanks to her hard work on it these past\nmany years.\n  She has also played a leading role in working with my national\nsecurity team to obtain fair compensation for ranchers impacted by the\nmodernization of Naval Air Station Fallon, helped draft and introduce\ndozens of bills and amendments, secured millions of dollars in critical\nfunding for Nevada through appropriations, and taken what can\nconservatively be estimated to be over a thousand meetings with\nNevadans. Whenever McKenna wasn't at her desk, we knew it meant she was\nin a meeting talking with Nevadans about how we could help them. It is\nher personal touch in these interactions that sets her apart, not only\ncoming prepared with policy knowledge and ready to answer any question\nthat comes her way, but also listening with empathy and fully adopting\nthe challenges of her fellow Nevadans as her own.\n  As a colleague, McKenna is beloved, someone whom everyone on my team\nin both Nevada and DC considers a person they can trust. She has been\nthere for people when they need her, just as she has been there for the\nState of Nevada. McKenna has a steady hand and an analytical mind, but\nalso a heart of gold.\n  McKenna, I thank you for your service to Nevada and the country, and\nI look forward to seeing you grow and excel as you move back home to\nReno and begin a new life with Ken. We will miss you, but your impact\nwill be felt forever.\n\n                          ____________________"]], "columns": ["granule_id", "date", "congress", "session", "volume", "issue", "title", "chamber", "granule_class", "sub_granule_class", "page_start", "page_end", "speakers", "bills", "citation", "full_text"], "primary_keys": ["granule_id"], "primary_key_values": ["CREC-2026-09-30-pt1-PgS5244-2"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.2934020012617111, "source": "Federal Register API & Regulations.gov API", "source_url": "https://www.federalregister.gov/developers/api/v1", "license": "Public Domain (U.S. Government data)", "license_url": "https://www.regulations.gov/faq"}
