SARAH McBRIDE\n\n                              of delaware\n\n                    in the house of representatives\n\n                       Monday, September 28, 2026\n\n  Ms. McBRIDE. Mr. Speaker, today, in recognition of Hunger Action\nMonth, I rise to honor the Food Bank of Delaware for the extraordinary\nwork they do every day on behalf of Delawareans.\n  We often call Delaware a state of neighbors. To me, that means more\nthan simply living beside one another. It means recognizing that we\nhave a responsibility to one another--that when a neighbor is\nstruggling, we do not look away. We step up. We lend a hand. We make\nsure no one has to face a difficult moment alone. Few organizations\nembody that spirit more fully than the Food Bank of Delaware.\n  Roughly one in seven Delawareans experiences food insecurity. That is\nan unacceptable statistic, especially in the wealthiest, most developed\nNation on Earth. No student should have to learn on an empty stomach.\nNo parent should have to skip a meal so their children can eat. No\nsenior should have to choose between groceries and medicine.\n  Ensuring that our neighbors can meet their most basic needs is not\nsimply a question of\n\n[[Page E994]]\n\ncharity. It reflects our values. That is why I am so inspired by the\nwork that is done at the Food Bank of Delaware. I have visited the Food\nBank several times, and I am always impressed by the dedicated staff,\nvolunteers, and community partners who go to great lengths to ensure\nthat someone they may never meet has nutritious food on the table.\n  That is what being a state of neighbors looks like in practice: It is\npeople choosing to take responsibility for one another, not because\nthey have to, but because they understand that the well-being of our\nneighbors is connected with our own.\n  I have long been proud to support the Food Bank in their work, and I\nremain committed to working alongside them to confront hunger and\nstrengthen food security across our state.\n  Hunger Action Month is a perfect opportunity to recognize how\ncritical this work is, but our responsibility to one another extends\nfar beyond any single month. Ending hunger will require sustained\ncommitment from all of us--government, community organizations,\nbusinesses, volunteers, and neighbors; and a shared refusal to accept\nhunger as inevitable.\n  So today, I want to thank everyone at the Food Bank of Delaware,\nincluding President and CEO Cathy Kanefsky for her leadership, and\nevery Delawarean who supports their mission. They remind us that a\nstate of neighbors is not simply something we call ourselves. It is\nsomething we choose to be every time we show up for one another.\n  Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in recognizing the Food\nBank of Delaware and all those working to end hunger across the First\nState during Hunger Action Month and beyond.\n\n                          ____________________"]], "columns": ["granule_id", "date", "congress", "session", "volume", "issue", "title", "chamber", "granule_class", "sub_granule_class", "page_start", "page_end", "speakers", "bills", "citation", "full_text"], "primary_keys": ["granule_id"], "primary_key_values": ["CREC-2026-09-28-pt1-PgE993-4"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.32264698529616, "source": "Federal Register API & Regulations.gov API", "source_url": "https://www.federalregister.gov/developers/api/v1", "license": "Public Domain (U.S. Government data)", "license_url": "https://www.regulations.gov/faq"}
