Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the Urban League of\nUnion County for its exceptional service to the community. The Urban\nLeague celebrated its 60th anniversary at the 34th Annual Equal\nOpportunity Day Dinner on November 12, 2004, in Newark, New Jersey.\n  The Urban League was originally established to help African Americans\nsecure economic independence and work for civil rights. Decades later,\nit has grown and expanded to assist the entire community with health\nneeds, employment services, housing assistance, and educational\nopportunities.\n  The Urban League offers the residents of Union County a wide range of\nservices to improve their quality of life. The Economic Development and\nEmployment Department offers assistance with interview techniques, job\nreferrals, career counseling, and job placement. In addition, it offers\na Summer Youth Employment Program and a Work Opportunity Program for\nwelfare recipients, as well as evening classes on computer literacy.\n  Working diligently to address important health issues, the Urban\nLeague has created the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Assistance\nProgram, which works to positively influence teenagers by educating and\ncounseling them about relationships, sexual development, and other\nrelated issues.\n  The organization has also established a Housing Community Development\nDepartment, which provides counseling on a variety of housing issues\nincluding mortgages, consumer credit and budget management,\nweatherization, and rental assistance. Other services include grant\nprograms, emergency homeless programs, and Federal Emergency Management\nAssistance.\n  Today, I ask my colleagues to join me in honoring the Urban League of\nUnion County for six decades of outstanding service to the community.\nIts extensive services will continue to help improve the lives of\ncountless individuals and families throughout Union County.\n\n                          ____________________"]], "columns": ["granule_id", "date", "congress", "session", "volume", "issue", "title", "chamber", "granule_class", "sub_granule_class", "page_start", "page_end", "speakers", "bills", "citation", "full_text"], "primary_keys": ["granule_id"], "primary_key_values": ["CREC-2004-12-07-pt1-PgE2168"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.3508299996610731, "source": "Federal Register API & Regulations.gov API", "source_url": "https://www.federalregister.gov/developers/api/v1", "license": "Public Domain (U.S. Government data)", "license_url": "https://www.regulations.gov/faq"}
